The Boots Advantage Card is the store loyalty card for the health and beauty giant Boots. The card is the most generous in the United Kingdom, giving four points for every pound spent in store. Each point collected is worth one penny, and once you have accumulated enough the points can be spent on most items in store.
Applying for a Card
You can also apply on the website, phone the advantage card helpline (the number of which is found on the back of the Boots till receipts) or fill in an application card in store. The cards are free!
Points can be collected on everything you buy, although there are a few exclusions: some baby milks, stamps, gift cards and prescriptions. You receive four points for every pound you spend, making it a very generous loyalty card scheme.
Boots often do special triple points weekends (usually on Bank Holiday weekends), when you’ll get twelve points for every pound. If you’re planning to do a big shop, it’s worth asking in store if there’s a triple points weekend coming up.
Every two months you also get a mailing which always contains a double points voucher, which is valid for two uses, as well as a range of other vouchers to be used in conjunction with the card – these vary from money off to extra points. You can also stick your card in the Advantage Point machines. In larger Boots stores there’ll usually be one or more machine, and you just insert your card and are taken through a menu of different offers – extra points, money off, BOGOF etc. You have to print off the voucher and take it to the till to be used. You can also collect points when shopping online – and the website often has extra points offers too.
If you forget your card when you’re out shopping, you just need to ask the cashier to validate your receipt and you’ll be able to add the points on the next time you go in.
You can’t do a part payment. For example, if you were buying a £60 item and had £20 on your card, you couldn’t simply take the £20 off and pay the difference. However, if you let your points build up, you’ll be able to use them on pretty much anything in store.
Review by Amytheduck- “I think the Boots Advantage Card is great. The points build up really quickly if you’re a regular shopper there, and as they can be spent on almost anything, it’s well worth having one. It’s free to sign up, the only disadvantage is not having the option to do part payments, as it’s frustrating when you’re just under the amount you need! I’ve had an advantage card for around five years now, and I do shop at Boots regularly, for make-up, lunches and lots of other things, so my points have built up quite a lot.I would definitely recommend getting a card – and men, don’t be put off by the fact the application form looks girly!”
